Liner Locks

Knifeinformer Liner Lock diagram
Liner locks are commonly found on the modern spring assisted knives however they do find their way into other types of knives.  It works to lock the blade by using a tensioned piece of metal that is part of the handle.  This metal is precisely machined and held in place by the blade while in the closed position, as the blade pivots into the open position its tension is released and it slides and butts up against creating a lock.   To close the blade a manual push of the liner lock will unlock the blade enabling it to be folded back into the closed position.
