This type of spring assisted knife is may include camouflage, paracord, gut hooks, or jimping designed to enhance a hunter or survivalists craft.  Due to the intended use these knives are normally made from a thicker stainless steel giving them a reliable heavy duty / heavy weight feel while also adding resiliency to outdoor elements.   Compared to it's push button cousins these knives are opened by pushing an index-open "flipper" or thumbstud.  Once the blade has reached an opening angle of 30-40% an internal spring will assist in the opening causing the blade to slam open with the same force as a switchblade.
